How a jump is run

01 — The short answer
The method
Every consequential step is done by one person and confirmed by another, and every check has a stated frequency rather than happening "regularly".
Duplication
Two weigh-ins, two harness checks, two sets of eyes on the cord selection. Not thoroughness for its own sake — it is the specific defence against one competent person having one bad moment.
Frequency
We ask each operator for named frequencies — daily structural checks, harness before every use, cords retired on a stated jump count — because "regularly" is not a claim.
Authority
Anyone can stop a jump. Only the site lead can restart one. Being wrong about stopping costs nothing here.

02 — The day
Before anyone arrives
The part of the operation no customer sees, which is where the day is actually decided.
If you arrive and the first session is late, this is usually why. The check is not shortened to recover the time.
03 — The log
A cord is a number before it is a piece of equipment
A well-run operation logs each cord: when it entered service, every jump against it, and the day it comes out. Selection at the desk is made from your measured weight, so the pairing of jumper and cord is recorded rather than remembered.We do not keep that log — the operator does. What we do is ask to see the policy behind it, because a fixed count removes the judgement call about whether a cord that looks fine is fine.

04 — Rules of the method
Six rules the sequence depends on
Numbered so a crew member or a customer can point at one. None of them bends for a full day or a large group.
No step is removed to recover time
A late start shortens the day, not the sequence. A jumper who arrives late joins the back of the next wave rather than having the briefing compressed or the second harness check skipped.
The person who fits does not clear
The harness is cleared by someone who did not fit it. A crew shortage means fewer jumps that day, not one person doing both halves of the check.
Weight is measured, never stated
Two independent readings at the desk. A booking figure, a passport figure or a jumper's own estimate is never used to select a cord.
Retirement is on the count, not the condition
A fixed jump count cannot be argued with on a busy morning; "it still looks fine" can. We ask which of the two an operator uses before we book them.
Anyone stops, only the lead restarts
Any crew member can halt a jump for any reason and does not have to justify it in the moment. Restarting is the site lead's call alone. The asymmetry is deliberate.
Sessions are capped before they are sold
Capacity is set by cycle time and crew, then slots are released against it. We do not release slots and then find a way to run them.

Can I see the cord log?
Ask at the desk. The relevant entry — which cord, its count, your weight — is what you would want to see and it is not confidential.
What cord policy should I look for?
A stated jump count with a log behind it. The number varies between operators and there is no single industry figure — what matters is that it is fixed and written down rather than decided on the day.
What happens if the daily check fails?
The site does not open until it passes. There is no partial opening and no running the sessions that "are not affected".
Does a bigger group get processed faster?
No. A group takes longer, not less, because the same per-person sequence runs for each of them. Groups are given more of the day rather than a shorter version of it.
